One of the most revered and popular of all Indian deities is Krishna, who is considered to be the 8th incarnation (avatar) of Vishnu. His task was to restore the divine order on earth. He is the teacher Arjunas in the Bhagavadgita. The versatility of his personality and the multifaceted meaning of his teaching reflect the integrity of his being.

It is said that Krishna comes back at the end of each age to save the righteous, destroy sin and establish goodness and holiness. He rules over eroticism and sexuality, love, music. He solves the problems of those who worship him and brings joy.
As a youth he delighted everyone with his flute playing and danced with the Gopiswhereat Radha was his main lover. The flute with which he is often depicted in pictures symbolizes the sound of the soul with which God, our own self, calls us to turn inward.
This Krishna stands on a lotus and is deeply immersed in his flute playing.
