AuBecause of its small size this Mala is ideal for for on the way. It is also very well suited for long mantra processes. So one can recite the mantras with a long mala and count a lotus seed with the small hand mala after each big mala round.

Intensive Mantrapprocesses with e.g. 21 x 108 repetitions, can be can be recited so more easily and you don't need tally sheets or anything like that to lead.
